COEVO is a British Columbia-based pet food company that has carved out a strong position in the freeze-dried raw space. Made in the Fraser Valley, COEVO represents the western Canadian counterpart to our local SMACK and Perfectly Raw — together they form a Canadian-coast-to-coast lineup of regionally-made foods at Barks N Purrs.
Their core philosophy is biologically appropriate nutrition delivered in formats that fit modern lifestyles. Freeze-dried raw, FD+K hybrids, and gently-cooked options all aimed at giving dogs and cats fresher nutrition than kibble can provide.
Freeze-drying removes water from fresh raw food at extremely low temperatures under vacuum. The process preserves nutritional integrity, live enzymes, and protein structure that high-heat processing destroys. When you rehydrate freeze-dried raw with warm water, you get something nutritionally close to fresh raw — without the freezer storage requirement.
This is the most premium way to deliver convenience without nutritional compromise. The trade-off versus fresh raw is mostly economic — freeze-drying is more expensive per serving than feeding from frozen — but for travel, no-freezer households, or as a daily food for those who prioritize convenience, COEVO is hard to beat.
Pure Freeze-Dried Raw — Multiple protein options. The closest thing to feeding fresh raw without owning a freezer. Live enzymes preserved, full bioavailability.
FD+K (Freeze-Dried + Kibble) — A hybrid format blending freeze-dried raw pieces with kibble. Better than pure kibble (some live enzymes preserved in the freeze-dried portion) but not equivalent to pure freeze-dried. A reasonable bridge product for kibble feeders moving toward raw.
Evolutionary Fit Kibble — A grain-free kibble line. Still extruded (and therefore subject to all the format limitations of any kibble), but with higher-quality ingredient sourcing than mass-market options.
Convenience-prioritized pet parents. If your lifestyle doesn't accommodate fresh raw logistics — frequent travel, limited freezer space, busy weekday mornings — COEVO's freeze-dried gives you premium nutrition that scoops like kibble.
Bridge from premium kibble. If you've been feeding ACANA, Orijen, or GO! and want to step up nutritionally without committing to fresh raw, COEVO's freeze-dried is the natural next step. You stay in the same convenience format with significantly better nutrition.
Travel and emergency preparedness. COEVO is shelf-stable. Pack it for camping, vacations, hurricane preparedness, or anytime your normal feeding logistics are disrupted.
Topper for sensitive eaters. A small amount of COEVO freeze-dried sprinkled over fresh raw or kibble adds palatability and nutritional density. Particularly useful for senior dogs whose appetite is fading.

Together with SMACK (Manitoba), Perfectly Raw (Manitoba), Carnivora (Saskatchewan), and Big Country Raw (Ontario), COEVO completes our genuinely Canadian-made fresh-and-fresh-adjacent food lineup. Every dog and cat at Barks N Purrs can be fed entirely on Canadian-made fresh raw or freeze-dried raw — that's rare in North American pet retail and worth being proud of.
